Running DOS-based Programs in Vista
Submitted by rahul on September 14, 2009 - 4:41pm
A very common requirement of Students, is running 16-bit DOS-based programs in Windows Vista (For professionals, 16-bit DOS has been long obsolete).
Although, I do not recommend the 2 methods I am mentioning below for running 16-bit DOS-based programs in Vista in full screen mode, still you can safely use them if you need to.
- Use DOS box - DOS box setup is attached with this Post below. You can find instructions on how to use it here.
- Tweak Vista itself without needing any add-on installation. Instructions are available here.
You can find the setup of DOS Box attached with this Post.

Great tip but does not wrk on 64-bit
This is a great tip, but two things to add:
1. 16-bit apps do not work on 64-bit Vista/7
2. In some DOS applications you can only get Full Screen to work by changing the Video Adapter type in Device Manager to the Standard VGA driver from Microsoft.

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the structure of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?

Hi there.. thanks for your feedback but I think I would keep it as is for now :)
The quantum of text and images I see in a blog post depends upon the context of the post and I do try to use images wherever feasible for better visualization.

Hey this is kinda of off topic but I was wondering if blogs
use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually
code with HTML. I'm starting a blog soon but have
no coding know-how so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience.
Any help would be enormously appreciated!
